Course Core Curriculum
Anatomy and Physiology Basics
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of anatomical principles as they relate to Pilates, covering the muscular and skeletal systems, and the planes of movement.
- Learn about the anatomy of the shoulder complex including the muscles and bones. Then how to apply this knowledge to teach exercises that promote scapular stability.
- Learn about the muscles and bones of the torso, and how to teach exercise that focus on core engagement and spinal alignment safely and effectively.
- Learn about the anatomy of the hip including teaching clients exercises that focus on proper alignment and joint safety.
- Learn about the bones and muscles of the knee and ankle and how to teach Pilates leg exercises focused on safe alignment and mobility.
Alignment and Mobilisation
Develop an understanding of proper alignment, starting with a neutral spine and pelvis.
Learn to instruct clients through targeted mobility exercises by developing both clear verbal instructions and effective hands-on adjustments (non-verbal cues) to enhance flexibility.
Origins and History of Pilates
Develop your understanding of the origins of Pilates and its consequent evolution where we will dive into exploring original exercises and then adapting them to teaching in a more modern and contemporary way.
Principles of Pilates
Learn not only the principles of Pilates and breathing but also how to incorporate them into your instructing.
Practical Teaching, Personal Development and Business Skills
Teaching Theory
Develop your understanding of sequencing and class planning so you’re able create effective, adaptable classes for both group and one-on-one clients.
Health and Safety Principles
Cover Work Place Health and Safety, hygiene issues and risk minimisation by learning how to prep your class space, and effectively communicate with your clients.
Class Observation
Learn from the best in real world settings. Attend at least 10 classes of either matwork pilates or reformer pilates or both (depending on your course enrolment). listening to their cues, spring configuration, layering techniques, transitions ect.
Develop your own style by remember they things you like so you can incorporate them into your own teaching practice.
Self Mastery and Teaching Mastery
Complete at least 20 hours of self master practice whereby you would practice the exercises yourself learning the set up, movement, breathing and muscle focus of each exercise.
Practice teaching friends and family. and then when you’re ready teaching in a Matwork or Reformer setting on actual clients.
Business Skills
Learn how to market yourself as a new instructor, find a job, build a client base, and turn your passion for Pilates into any vision you have for yourself.
Theoretical Assessment
Demonstrate your understanding of the online theory by completing an online quiz.
Matwork Pilates Specialisation Curriculum
Activation, Fundamental and Stretching Repertoire
Master the essential activation exercises to ensure correct activation and alignment to then progress to the Pilates beginner exercises, focusing on verbal cueing then hands on tactile cueing to build your foundation to build your teaching framework upon.
Learn the stretching repertoire so you can confidently sprinkle stretching and mobility exercises though your class or deliver a focused stretching block at the end of your class that focuses on enhancing flexibility, and releasing tension.
Beginner Repertoire
Master teaching the beginner-level Pilates repertoire with confidence. Learn how to correct alignment emphasising proper form through clear verbal cues and hands on adjustments to help clients develop strength and stability in their foundational exercises.
Intermediate Repertoire
Develop your teaching skills of the intermediate Pilates repertoire, including using props to adapt the exercises in a more contemporary style class.
Standing and Advanced Repertoires
Develop your confidence in teaching advanced dynamic standing Pilates flows. Learn how to program creative and contemporary classes with dynamic movements while introducing both progressions or modifications to teach all levels.
Antenatal and Post Natal Modifications
Develop a comprehensive understand of when and how to modify matwork exercises safely for prenatal and postnatal populations.
Practical Assessment
Demonstrate your teaching skills by programming and instructing a matwork class showcasing all the skills and techniques learned throughout the course.
Reformer Pilates Specialisation Curriculum
Reformer Fundamentals
Develop your understanding of the Pilates Reformer including the setup for each exercise, how to safely work with the reformer as well as ensure client safety when exercising on the reformer.
All Things Springs
Master your understanding of the spring configurations and how to adjust the spring settings to adjust the resistance each exercise as client levels.
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Full Body Integration
Develop your teaching confidence in teaching the beginner, intermediate and advanced Pilates repertoire as well as full body integration exercises. Focus on dynamic movement, clear verbal cueing and hands on correcting techniques.
Jumpboards
Let’s jump baby!! Learn how to program and deliver classes that focus core strength, leg and glute stretch, balance, and cardio challenge with the Jumpboard repertoire.
Injury, Antenatal and Post Natal Modifications
Get our Antenatal and Post Natal Course included with your reformer course. Develop a comprehensive understand of when and how to modify exercises safely for prenatal and postnatal populations.

Course Requirements
Our online Pilates matwork teacher training course take you through 200 hours of our pilates party! Just so you know whats involved lets take a quick look.
- 20 hours of pre-course pilates classes / observation hours (online or in a studio near you)
- 50 hours face to face contact (25 Matwork and 25 Reformer delivered in Bali)
- 25 hours of anatomy online self study via our online student portal
- 25 hours or repertoire self-study via our online student portal
- 30 hours of teaching practice for both Mat and reformer.
- 10 Hours observations hours (both mat and reformer)
- 1 hour of assessment (both online quizz and face-to-face practical assessment)
Community
Once enrolled gain access to the course WhatsApp group where you can engage with other students from around the world. Get travel advice, ask course related questions, book shared villas… you name it. This group forms a community before even arriving in Bali and the friendships build will last years after leaving Bali.
Training Location
The BA Villa is the morning located for our matwork sessions in Canggu near Bali Buddha. We hold Reformer sessions at our partner studio Revive Pilates in Cannge and Pulse Pilates Lima Bay.

Accommodation
Accommodation is not include as we have found most students prefer to arrive in Bali before their course or stay longer than their course and therefore wish to obtain their own longer term accommodation.
